Hannah is a ceramic artist, painter and Arts Educator based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, whose work is defined by an expressive approach to form, texture, and mark-making. Her artistic language centers on the tension between fluidity and structure, brought to life through a monochromatic palette and spontaneous, gestural marks. Graduating from DeMontfort University in 2015 with a degree in Design Crafts, Hannah quickly pursued further development through the Ceramic Starter Studio Program at Yorkshire Artspace in Sheffield. Here, she had access to professional pottery equipment, resources, and mentorship, which shaped her evolving style and vision.

Following her time at Yorkshire Artspace, Hannah embarked on an artist residency at Loughborough High School, where she worked directly with students, sharing her techniques and passion for ceramics. This residency marked a period of experimentation and growth as she continued to refine her visual vocabulary and focus on her practice. Now based in her own purpose-built studio in Sheffield, Hannah creates collections that echo her fascination with contrast and raw expression. Her ceramics and prints invite viewers to explore the balance between controlled form and the unpredictability of mark-making, a reflection of her journey as both a creator and an educator.

Hannah’s work emerges from a deeply personal connection to mark-making, a process that allows her to experience a unique quietness and clarity within her mind. As an artist with dyslexia, she finds that drawing and creating are among the few activities where her thoughts settle, and she can focus fully on the task at hand. Her work is often spontaneous, reflecting an intuitive response to her materials and surroundings, yet each piece retains a thoughtful consideration that invites viewers to look closer. For Hannah, the act of creating isn’t simply about representation; it’s about the meditative, almost therapeutic rhythm of mark-making, allowing her to engage with her inner world in ways words cannot capture.
